2/08/10 - 2nd Day - Morning. Greetings y'all. Guess what? It's raining... again. Been raining on and off all night and into today. We had two days of sunshine and now the rain/mud is back. Seriously, If I wanted to live in England I would move to England. It took me a half an hour to get the fire started in the office this morning and it is still damp/chilly. We appreciate the rain though. It will be nice (if the Lord wills) to have our tanks filled this spring for the first time since 2006. I am very much looking forward to spring and planting.

I don't have a TV and didn't watch the SuperBowl, but I did see this SuperBowl commercial online. Frightening. As my atheist friend Chris Awalt said "I thought it had a surprising, subversive feel. Subversive because it showed a fantasy police state coming at its citizens with a spirited (if not yet totally efficient) authoritarian vigor. Surprising because the totalitarian regime in question was not a neo-con policy room in the inner sanctum of Dick Cheney's office, but a dream sequence in the quite slumber of the global warming crowd."

Pope Benedict the Ecks Vee Eye (16) condemns child abuse by priests. Excellent. In a related story, Charles Manson condemned murders by the Manson Family. Benedict was very careful to emphasize CHILD abuse as the one that he is now condemning. "For centuries, the Catholic Church has shown its commitment to loving and respecting children and ensuring their basic human rights are respected", Benedict told members of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Family. "Except for those centuries when we were cutting out the tongues of children who said the Lord's Prayer in English, or during that whole 'Inquisition thing' when we burned the children of heretics along with their parents. But, other than those few times... oh... and when we sent huge Papal armies to wipe out the Waldenses and we threw their babies off of cliffs or tied them into balls and rolled them down the mountains, but other than that... oh... and there were those centuries when each of us priests had an altar boy back in our chamber... those were the days... and that time when I was a boy and I was in the Hitler youth and we helped Hitler with his plan to kill all the Jew babies... but other than those few exceptions, we have always respected the human rights of children."

Stories like this one give a whole new meaning to "FOXNews"... Ok. I'm sorry. I apologize. Bad blogger preacher... bad.

This is a good story about beer and health, but I don't know what that see-through beverage is that they have in the picture. Looks like urine?

The Rev. Russel Schaller, 35, is facing six charges of third-degree CSC charges for having inappropriate contact with a boy. With a mugshot photo that screams I AM REVEREND.

Battle Creek, Michigan "church" whose attendance collapsed because of economics, organizational issues, historical traditions and social upheaval" (read: bad doctrine, stupid financial decisions, and gambling going into a recession), hires a female "reverend" to fix things. Nice. That ought to do it.

Folks that bragged that they "never touched alcohol" but drink tons of sodas instead, get bonus pancreatic cancer for not thinking it through.

Facebook Friends

Hey Friends,

For those of you who are "friends" on Facebook, I have a very unpalatable favor to ask you. Facebook has a very stupidly named system called "fan pages", where people can become "fans" of people, bands, products, books, etc. I hate the name, but the concept of the fan page is that people, authors, etc. can interact with their friends without having a regular "friends" page which exposes a lot of family and other information to strangers. I have been advised to create a "fan page" so that my family members and close friends will not be exposed to the large amount of Bunker haters, etc. and also (this is more to the point) so that my family members don't get hate mail from their friends who have no idea who I am but who link through to me and see my info and freak out. Anywho... I will be phasing out my regular "friends" page over the next few months and will only be adding (or suggesting people add) to the fan page. I hate the name "fan" as much as you, but that is what facebook calls it. For those of you who are and have been good "friends" for years, I will still be totally reachable through all the normal channels, and you will get all my clever, witty, biting, and boring facebook posts on your page if you fan up. There is also a "discussion" forum on the fan page that doesn't exist on the regular friends page.

Ok? Hate to do it, but that is the way it goes.

Oh, and for those of you who are on Facebook and who haven't been checking out the regular posts, a lot of the discussion on the podcasts has been happening on Facebook.

For those of you who do not have facebook and who do not want it. Congratulations. Stay the way you are.

2/04/10 - 5th Day - Afternoon. Greetings y'all. Guess what? It's raining. Been raining on and off for over a week. Prolly getting close to 5 or more inches. But, we'll take what we can get.

Hey, if you have been sending me emails... First, THANKS. Second, I read all of my emails. Third, I am not on the internet much and when I am I am generally working, so right now it is not possible that I can respond to every email, especially those that are informational or "FYI", etc. and that don't specifically call for a response. I do like to receive your emails, and like I said I do read them, but please remember that I get hundreds of emails and, for the most part, regular back and forth chit-chat is not really going to be possible without me neglecting some other area of my work. Do not interpret this in any way as a method or means to keep you from emailing me.

Oh, and it is still raining. And the stock market crasheded again today... down near 10k.

Today I am smoking a beautiful Puros Indios cigar sent to me by my good brother in South Africa... Thanks Sanrico!

I have Podcast #5 done and in the can, but I haven't gotten it to David yet, so it isn't up yet. I'll try to get it to him this afternoon sometime.

Some thoughts...

Whoever invented tater tots was a genius and ought to be given more responsibilities.

I need some Q's for the next podcast. Be creative. But get them here by tomorrow noon if you are able.

Don't be alarmed, but the government has your baby's DNA.

I cannot think of many things more bizarre than the specter of the President's aunt being deported. Seriously, the Amerikan government is like a bad episode of COPS or a good episode of Jerry Springer.

Start the "restoration process"... Pastor Popped for Propositioning Prostitute, Promptly 'Pologizes... heard to say, "at least it was a female prostitute!"... and can I get extra-credit for the alliteration please?

In the makes perfect sense in this wicked world department: Buffeted by priest sex abuse lawsuits, Vermont's Catholic church says it will sell its headquarters building and a children's camp to raise money for settlements to alleged abuse victims. Imagine the pain of having to say to your little son... "Sorry son, you can't go to camp and get felt-up by God's servants this year because SOMEONE had to sue the church and ruin everyone else's vacation."

This handsy priest definitely should be transferred to another diocese...

Wherein I torture Larry

1/31/10 - The Lord's Day - Morning. Greetings y'all. Today's post is a little off-topic. Larry and I have been somewhat stuck in Austin for a few days because Santa Anna got so much rain(close to 4") and the mud is such that we wouldn't be able to drive on the property anyway. So, instead of heading home on Friday, it is the Lord's Day and we are still in Austin. So yesterday Larry asked me if I wanted to go with him to Fry's. If you don't have a Fry's where you live, Fry's is a huge consumer electronics store, and apparently they have some type of attraction to Asians, because Larry and I were one of very few non-Asians in the store - and the store was PACKED, I mean it was like a Hong Kong fish market in there. Anyway, on with the story...

I have a sense of humor that is... different. Some things make me laugh that might not make anyone else laugh, ever. But we have a saying in our group.... "Sometimes they're just for me". So, as I was walking into Fry's with Larry, it occurred to me how funny it was to be walking into a consumer electronics superstore full of Asians with a man who looks exactly like Ernest Hemingway...

So I had an idea. I love the non-sequitur. I also love irony. One of the funnest things for me to do is to go up to clerks or waitresses or other people who work in large establishments and ask really, really off-the-wall questions... questions that usually involve either a non-sequitur or irony. Like, sometimes when I am checking out at a grocery store and I notice that the items I am buying are completely non-related... like say... some batteries and a head of lettuce, I will say to the checker, "Are those the right batteries for that lettuce?" with a straight face.

The beard and Amish look goes a long way in comedy. Try this, go to the Wal-Mart or any electronics product store and ask for "non-electric" items, like "do you have any non-electric laptops?". Those are gold.

Anywho.... I was walking into the Fry's with Larry and I thought of something that made me laugh so I said to Larry, "Larry, I will give you one dollar in quarters (I only had 3 dollars... all in quarters) if you will go up to the clerk in the DVD area and ask for a DVD on bullfighting." Larry didn't flinch a bit, so we head over to the DVD area. I kid you not, Larry, who looks exactly like Ernest Hemingway, walked right up to the clerk and said, "Do you have any DVD's on bullfighting?". I was laughing hysterically inside, but the clerk didn't get it because he was under 30 and probably had no idea who Hemingway was. It turns out that Fry's does have the documentary "The Matador" that I linked to a few days ago, in case you were wondering.

So the rest of the trip I was peppering Larry with things to ask clerks for, but I think he grew tired of me and didn't do them. Some examples:

"Go to the electronics area and ask them if they have a 'crock pot to USB' adapter, or a blue tooth connection for your crock pot".

"Go ask them if they have a TESLA coil for your crock pot"

On the Hemingway thing, I was trying to get him to ask the clerks if there were any "expatriats in the area who sit around and drink Sangria and move from cafe to cafe?", or at least to ask them where the Sangria section was in the store.

It went on-and-on for a half-hour, but I couldn't get him to do any more because they were so ridiculous. Seriously, I think that "Tesla coil/crock pot" thing was hilarious. I still laugh when I think about it, but... some of them are just for me.

1/29/10 - 6th Day - Morning. Rain, rain, and more rain. Central Texas has received up to 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours or so. Which means mud. Special. Gooey. Sticky. Mud. But at least there is cold and wind, so we have that going for us. Napoleon in Russian comes to mind, although we don't have permafrost and snipers are not shooting us... yet.

Hey, we are still trying to put together our plan for a trip up to the St. Louis area of Missouri (and maybe out to Jamesport to see Amish country) in just a few weeks. Again, if you are interested in seeing us up there, you need to let me know asap. I'll be sending out a private friendslist email about it today and maybe sometime this weekend.

Feedback about the podcasts is starting to die out, but thanks for all of the questions.

1/28/10 - 5th Day - Morning. Howdy. The prognosticators are calling for more rain in Central Texas. We have been getting good moisture just about every week, and have stayed fairly wet since August, which is very nice. I am very excited about spring coming.

I was in the vehicle for a bit last night and heard some of Obama's speech. Here is the shorthand recap for those who may have missed it:

"Ok y'all citizen/voters, I know you had a little pouty-baby-tantrum, but that's just 'cause you're ignorant. we're gonna give you a little time out, and then start again. So here's a few goodies. Now just chill and stop it."

In reality, it really was just a recap of Pedro's speech from Napoleon Dynamite: "Do what I want and I'll make all your wildest dreams come true." Obama actually believes that the current unemployment situation is rooted in a lack of higher education. So, in reality, there are millions of jobs available out there, and millions of undereducated workers who just didn't have the education to get those jobs. Really? That doesn't sound right to me. Personally, I know so many educated ignoramuses that I have to doubt that there are millions of jobs sitting empty for want of automatons excreted from multitudinous and bulging degree mills in modern Amerika. When Amerika was at her most prosperous, most people did not have university educations. In fact, I am willing to bet (if someone will do the stat work) that there is an inverse relationship between the output of the degraded public education mills, and overall employment. Frankly, I didn't learn anything of value until after I gave up on attending the advanced public socialization/indoctrination/colonization center.

I am curious about how many 'merikans felt good about being talked down to by a man Bill Clinton said, "just a few years ago would have been fetchin' us coffee".

Hey, I am planning (if the Lord wills) to record 1... maybe 2... podcasts today.

PETA wants Punxsatawney Phil replaced with a robot... Which reminds me, I really like the movie "Groundhog Day", and I really like to eat meat... a lot.

Colorado man says smoking pot is a "sacrament of his religion"... apparently driving slow and eating Doritos by putting his face in the bag is a sign of sincerity to his faith experience.

Ted Haggard's wife says he doesn't want to sleep with men anymore. Mmmm...kay. Whatever. In a related story, the Cookie Monster's wife says that he has given up cookies for good this time... in fact, he told her just the other day he could take a bath in cookies and he wouldn't be tempted a bit. Then he asked her if she would let him go to the Keebler tree... alone... at night... just to prove it.

Man who shot the Pope in '81 is now free and wants to "visit the Vatican"... In an unrelated story, the Pope considers declaring himself bulletproof.

1/27/10 - 4th Day - Morning. Howdy y'all. The prognosticators are calling for more wet and some cold moving in starting tonight. We can always use the wet, and for now we can actually use the cold as well. Our weather has been so balmy the last two weeks that grass is starting to come up and turn green, and I am afraid my peaches will start to blossom - so the predicted cold front should put an end to that for now... which is good. I am praying for a good fruit year this year, as you know.

Jersey Girl and What else is Up

1/25/10 - 2nd Day - Greetings to all of you folks. There's a lot going on here at the ranch and ministry, so I'll probably have to keep it somewhat short. Today, Brother Kelly and I drove down to a small town just outside of Brady, Texas to purchase a couple of fresh Jersey milkers (1 each). We won't pick them up for a couple of weeks, but I'm looking forward to fresh cream, milk, cheeses, etc. and when I went down and told the pigs, their mouths started to water. Still no news on when or if my Holstein will ever drop a calf.

Hey you people in the midwest, it looks like Mrs. Bunker and I will be taking an anniversary trip up to Missouri in about a month (end of Feb.) and if any of y'all are able to get together for a meeting, you'll want to make your plans now. None of our dates or locations are firm yet, and I've nominated our good sister Renée to head up the planning and implementation committee. I've also seconded the motion, and it passed with 100% of the necessary votes. Anyway, if you email me I will put you in touch with her and she can tell you what is up and what is going down. We'd love to have the opportunity to meet many of you regular readers and friends.

The tentative dates for Spring Super Ranchfest this year are April 23-30. That is subject to change, but write them down anyway and let us know if you plan on attending. Email me for details.

1/22/10 - 6th Day - Greetings to all of you in the name of Jesus Christ. I hope all is well out there. The weather here in Central Texas has been absolutely spring-like glorious. The prognosticators are calling for 77 today with plenty of sun. I really hope my plants and peach trees are not being conned into thinking that spring is here.

Well, I am very pleased with the reception and response to the first podcast. As of this morning, in less than 24 hours, 39 people had subscribed to the show and many more than that listened to the podcast. As humble as those numbers are, I am very pleased with them and I am excited about the possibilities of the show. For those of you who missed it, the first show is called Irony of Ironies...

This is the kind of show that will take some thinking and participation. You need to listen to the shows and think about questions that are provoked by it - then email me your questions. Also, remember the show is about everything (or as we say at the ranch... everstuff), so don't neglect questions on Agrarianism, Farming, Separatism, Doctrine, Cooking, even Cigars, Recipes, and Footwear (or whatever). Don't worry about being too controversial. Ask hard questions, but be aware that really, really, long and involved questions may be difficult to handle in depth in this venue.

Who needs Gene Hackman when we have dozens of young prissy actors today who all look the same, can't act, and are prettier than their female leads? <---- meant in a totally non-gay way.

Catholic school music director and his roommate arrested for possession of child porn, additional charges of being an overused trite cliché to follow.

1/19/10 - 3rd Day - Greetings y'all. Ok, the first radio/audio/podcast thinggy is in the can. I'll keep calling it that until someone comes up with a name for it. I can just say that you brought this upon yourselves. Those of you who have been encouraging this endeavor have only yourselves to blame. You have no idea what you have unleashed.

The podcast is in Webmaster/Elder/Producer David's hands to see what he will do with it. Hopefully I will have a link for you soon. The first episode is called Irony of Ironies or something like that and is my discussion or response to a letter written by an Atheist friend.

Things are going well enough here at the ranch, although I am down to my last cigar and the scotch is all gone, which makes me sad. Other than that, everyone is thriving and doing well.

I will have more to write later, but will post again when the podcast/radio/audio thinggy link is available to you for your own self-flagellation and punishment. I have that awful feeling of dread I get whenever I must say something that I know is going to make me even more disliked, if that is possible.

Don't say it. Don't say it. Oh...

1/15/10 - 6th Day - Greetings y'all.

Some things most folk don't want to hear:

1. Just because you don't think it wise to send money to the huge black-hole that is Haiti, does not mean you are without compassion for pain and suffering.

2. Of the Billions of dollars about to be funneled into Haiti, most will never reach the people. The little bit of money that does trickle down for services and rebuilding projects will have no appreciable long-term affect on the lives of Haitians.

3. So-called "christian" people, particularly in Amerika, would rather walk right by real responsibilities and real needs in their own land, and the needs of their own kinsmen (the Good Samaritan was a kinsman) in order to send money to some cause that will make them feel better and look good to their families and friends. If you send $25 or $100 to Haiti relief, your real/actual impact in Haiti will be very near 0.00, but you will have purchased $25-$100 of "feel good".

4. Disaster Relief Agencies NEED these huge disasters in order to make payroll and cover expenses for the year.

5. Racism is the foundation on which the modern relief industry thrives. How much money is allocated; how much media time is allocated; how much guilt and emotionalism is applied, is a direct reflection of the color of the victims. In a color-blind society, this would not be so... ergo, the media, the relief industry, etc. has a vested interest in making sure there is never a color-blind society. More than 10 times more money and attention will be allocated, and more than 10 times more guilt will be insinuated and implied to Haiti than has been utilized in other, equally devastating natural disasters in other parts of the world.

6. Haiti receives (and has received) more in Western aid than almost any other country you can name.... so where did the money go? Obviously it did not go into job creation, with their unemployment rate of 70%+. Obviously it doesn't go to salaries (average $2 a day). Obviously it didn't go into infrastructure or building anything to code. WHERE. IS. THE. MONEY?

1/14/10 - 5th Day - Greetings y'all. Our wet winter is scheduled by the prognosticators to continue over the next few days, with rain "probabilities" between 80-100%. With that and the very cold freeze we had a week or so ago, the agricultural prognosticators are calling for one of the best spring/summer eras on record for planting and growing things. Particularly the peach growers are very excited about the possibilities for the 2010 crop. Since we lost our peach crop last year to a late freeze, I am praying that all things work together for a bumper peach crop this year.

I am in one of those times when I have too much to say and seem overwhelmed by the many tasks ahead of me. Having no real staff or organization, it becomes difficult sometimes for me to know what to do first. This phenomena, on a micro scale, is evidenced by this blog post. Too much to say and not organized enough to know what to say or how. So, because the job seems to big at times, I end up saying nothing.

It seems that just my presence on Facebook and other social media is enough to create anger and gnashing of teeth. I can tell you this... the one world religious cult (Jebus is LOOOOVE) is ubiquitous on Facebook and the Social Media, and the cult-members don't like Michael Bunker very much. I grieve about that on cold winter nights, and shall cry silently into my pillow tonight in sorrow.

I posted my treatise on Liberty as a Modern Religious Idol on the Best of Bunker blog. Though some of you have listened to this on BA, you probably have not read the text before since I think this is the first time I have posted it. I would very much like to read your comments or discussion on the topic.

Just a curiosity, and at the risk of being called a racist... If Haiti is only half of the island of Hispaniola (The Dominican Republic is the other half), why are we only hearing about Haiti? How is it that when racist polemicists attack white people for their racism in allowing Haiti to be so poor, we never hear about the Dominican Republic and their excellent economy (I, for one, very much like Dominican cigars). So I have a few questions: If you had to submit yourself to the government of Haiti, or to the government of the Dominican Republic (DR), which would you choose? (If you chose the DR, why are you so racist?). If it is the "whiteness" of America that makes them not want to throw billions and billions of dollars into trying to civilize Haiti (a nation of stoned-voodoo-wastoid beggers), is it the "blackness" of Haiti, or its "frenchness" that makes it a nation unable to govern itself? I'm just curious. How many dollars (assign a dollar amount) would it take to make Haiti even half as prosperous and stable as the DR? Who doubts that if the DR was able to deport its 800,000 Haitian immigrants, Haiti would be worse off, and the DR would be immeasurably improved?

1/12/10 - 3rd Day - Greetings to you all out there. I hope all is well with you, and that you are growing in the grace of the Lord. Scattershooting here today from Central Texas in the wake of some kind of arctic/nordic cold front from the depths of the mythical global warming beast. Single digit temps in Central Texas is NOT a good argument for global warming, people.

In my last post from last week I discussed Rick Warren's Purpose Driven plea for funds that brought him a cool $2.4 million. I posited that a similar plea by the Process Driven guru (me) would not net 2.4 thousand dollars. Well, so far I have been very correct... but I haven't given up hope. Several of the comments and emails suggested that the problem was that Process Driven Christian Agrarian Separatists (even those just starting out) are poorer (moneywise) than Purpose Driven worldlings. I agree, which is one of the reasons that my target number was so much less than Saddlesore's target (they originally asked for $900,000. So I did some more figuring, and, I must admit, I am bad at math... but here is what I came up with:

Based on popularity alone (and this was a tough one, because my popularity is hard to measure) or "media reach", taking the relative access to the modern reader, if Warren could raise $2.4 million, I should be able to raise about $96,000 and that number was based on some goofy figures because I had been off-line for the last 6 weeks of the year and the popularity of this blog dropped by 2/3. Still, all things being equal - for example, if my readers were of the same type and life of those of Saddlesore Church, then it seems like this amount would be doable. Now, the next thing I had to consider (and this is all just to emphasize an important point), is that Saddlesore teaches tithing, utilizes corrupt Bibles, uses music and drama for manipulation and entertainment, implies that all of the money is going to give the gospel to poor paraplegics, and subtly promises eternity and comfort to those who give money. Those things really affect the figures. I figure that cuts it by a whole bunch. My appeal for money can't be based on those things, so I am tremendously handicapped. It is much harder to say, "You should send help because you are benefited by the teaching and it is all given out for free". I think the "poor" reasoning (saying that my audience is just poor, so that accounts for most of the difference) isn't really a valid explanation. As one of the commenters said, even if it was $100 - most people could do that. And if every real student of BA/Laz/MB.com sent that, we would probably blow the doors off that $96,000 much less the $2,400. That would be easy enough to prove, because if $100 is what the average, poor, dedicated, separatist, loyal reader and student can afford, then... I have less than 5 of those. So it is something else. My guess is that it is mostly indifference, apathy, and complacency... all signs of the times. I can see no other explanation. Remember, this isn't about money, it is all to make a point about the prophetic times in which we live.

We move on...

It seems that those of us who are REALLY separate, and can prove it, will be exempted from the new Health Care nonsense.

I was reading on Facebook where some folks were dreaming about the idea of... get this... a colony or community of believers who have chosen to separate and live in close community in seeking to serve God and live according to His commandments and in pressing into the Kingdom of God. Really. Sounds like a great idea. I'm surprised no one has thought of it. <----Benevolent Sarcasm Font here) There followed some speculation as to what problems or concerns would accompany such an attempt. Of course, no one who isn't actually doing it really knows what concerns or problems might need to be addressed. We here in our community have been living this way for going on 5 years, so we have some good ideas to offer. But (another speculative bet) I am pretty sure no one will ever ask us for our advice.

Hey, I took the family to Whole Foods market the other day, and to another similar market called Sprouts Farmers Market in Austin. There is an interesting irony in a person like me visiting a place like Whole Foods. The people in there (rich, liberal, yuppies) basically would disdain my worldview and way of life, but still they spend thousands of dollars and an untold amount of time trying to eat like we do. It is an interesting thing to watch the way that the rich yuppies look at someone like me (a poor, obviously rural, obviously religious man). I had to laugh at the thought of these rich liberals paying huge bucks to buy the stuff that we eat basically for free at our little ranch/farm. I was fascinated by the fact, though, that Whole Foods and Sprouts do buy a lot of farm fresh, organic, materials from local growers. Whole Foods had a whole long list on a wall of local growers, each of whom has a "market day" where they can bring in a crop and actually meet and greet the customers who buy it. I like the idea. Too bad the business plans of these companies require them to locate and focus their marketing stategies on very rich, yuppie areas. The good news is that... IF you are still living near a large urban area, and IF there is a fairly wealthy yuppie class in that area, and IF you have the money to spend, you can eat like we do! Oh, and shocked to find Whole/Raw milk cheeses sold at Whole Foods. Wow.

From what I understand, for those of you keeping up with the Isaiah series studies along with the class in Santa Anna, as of this past 2nd Day evening (yesterday), they have progressed through the first 5 parts (which includes the three introductory parts). So you need to keep up!

Oh... gasoline probably over $3 again soon, and will continue to go up. Look for a complete explosion and destruction of the Bond Market. Venezuela just devalued their currency by 50%. Ours will do so on its own. Look for the next big "event" (whether it be terrorist or otherwise) sometime before the middle of summer.

Urgent! Need $2.4 Million! Stat!

1/05/10 - 2nd Day - Greetings friends and transitory e-visitors. Peace unto you in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, King, and Sacrifice from the center of the Republic of Texas.

It has been interesting to be back on-line for a bit, after a month and a half of relative peace and serenity here in off-grid-land. I have been going through some back-log emails and reading this-and-that on-line before I duck back (mostly) off-line for a bit. I was interested to read where Purpose-Driven Life guru, false preacher, and overall antichrist character Rick Warren was able to hit up gooey and ignorant “christians” for a cool $2.4 million in only the last few waning days of 2009. Apparently, because of the economic collapse, Warren’s associated ministries were a solid $900,000 (a cool way to NOT say $1 million) in debt with only a few days left in their financial year. Slick Rick came upon a brilliant plan to shout out to “christians” through his flacks in the mainstream media and, with the appropriate excuses and explaniating (e.g. “We spent more than we planned on the poor”), his urgent call brought in the aforementioned 2.4 million smackers to Saddlesore Church’s coffers. I was shocked… but not much. In discussing this with the folks here in our community, the idea was put forth that, if this kind of thing works, why not try it? Maybe if I, Michael Bunker, tell people that things are tough and that our financial budget has been strained by the economic depression, people will feel the tug of conscience and send me 2.4 million bucks. Hmmm… I don’t think so. First of all, in order to have a financial budget, I’d have to have some form of… finances. Second, since I don’t believe that Christian ministry is a business, my accountants (ok, I don’t have an accountant) and marketing people (or marketing people) wouldn’t be pressuring me not to have a budget deficit at year’s end. No, my position is that it would be near-on impossible for anyone preaching the true Gospel of Jesus Christ to even be invited to speak in a mainstream “church” today, much less to raise any $2.4 million from the religious atheists that make up the christian consensus in Amerika today.

But the comparisons between the ministries are very interesting. His ministry is PURPOSE driven, where Christianity is supposed to be PROCESS driven. He sells materials and books by the truckload, whereas all of our materials are available online for free – including books I haven’t even finished writing yet. He teaches and preaches a false, industrial, corporate, feel-good gospel of comfortable worldliness… the true gospel could not be more opposite to that. His books are purchased openly and proudly by the same people who are buying Harry Potter, Ann Coulter, the Twilight books, and anything on the Oprah list. My books, when and if they are purchased, are more likely to be hidden in brown paper bags along with clearance copies of books written by old, dead Puritans. Never will you find me praying over Obama at his inauguration, or wearing a Hawaiian shirt whilst endeavoring to make peace with the homosexual lobby.

The reality of things is a fascinating study, though. However Biblically ignorant and spiritually retarded apostate “christians” are, it seems that they are more willing to support a work they deem to be “good”, than are those who claim to have eschewed and rejected such apostasy in favor of a more pure Christianity. That is a fact that will never cease to amaze me.

When I started this blog, I chose the name “A Process Driven Life” to emphasize that Rick Warren’s “christianity”, which is the belief system of some 85% or more of his countrymen, is not the Christianity of the Holy Bible. True Christianity is Process Driven, and not Purpose Driven. My opinion is that Amerikan christianity is so far fallen from the True Faith once delivered unto the saints, that anyone who commits themselves to preaching the true gospel and to disseminating the truth in this country will find themselves on a very narrow and lonely road.

However, by way of further comparison (and to prove my point), if there are any brethren out there who are willing to come up along side of us and help us on our way, it won’t take $900,000 or $2.4 million to help out. I don’t think we could raise 2.4 thousand dollars, but I’d love to be proven wrong:

Wherein I, turning 43, talk to you about Aeneas and Isaiah

1/04/10 - 2nd Day - Greetings to all of you in the name of Jesus Christ, in whom alone is salvation. Quite chilly here at the ranch this morning. The professionals say it is around 27 degrees right now, but that it is going to get WAY colder towards the end of this week. The prognosticators are calling for low teens on Thursday and Friday night, with wind chill temps in the single digits. What? Seriously, that is not cool.

I am getting close to finishing Tacitus Histories, which is mainly a blow-by-blow account of the year 69 in the Roman empire. It is fascinating and an edge-of-your-seat kind of thing. I am shocked that no enterprising film maker hasn't endeavored to make a film about that year (the year of 4 emperors), especially since the war in Judea and the destruction of Jerusalem was reaching fulfillment at that time.

I have also started to read the Aeneid, and will be starting on Herodotus as soon as I finish Tacitus. I also am looking for Tacitus' Annals, so if any of you have that or want to donate it, please send it along.

For those of you who are wanting to follow along with what the community fellowship here is studying, starting tonight (Lord willing) the group will be restarting the Isaiah Commentary series beginning with the first two introductory parts. The plan is that Elder David will be dubbing our videotaped copies onto DVD so that we can make the DVD version available to everyone who wants it. Anyway, if you want to stay up with the group so that you will be caught up when we re-start the new parts (starting with Chapter 34) this year, you will need to listen to the first two parts today. If you went through this series years ago, you will probably want to go through it again, because there is no way you are going to recall the things you will need to remember when we restart at Chapter 34. For those of you who have never gone through the Isaiah series, I really think you want to listen to it. Isaiah has more prophetic information, more foreshadowing and type/shadow that is critical to understanding what is happening in the world today, and more lessons for living in a time of general apostasy, then any other book in the Bible. I can assure you that you have not examined or studied Isaiah from the "angle" or in the way that we will be covering the book in this study. Well Howdy 2010

1/01/10 - 6th Day - Morning. Today's date is binary. Just thought you might want to know. Well, welcome back to my Process Driven Life, and greetings in the name of the Most High God. It's been awhile... and how are you? I figured I'd give a quick update and let you all know what to expect (if the Lord wills, of course) in 2010. Things are going to be changing up a bit, but for those of you who were on my December Project snail mail list, you should continue to receive my regular mailings for the time being. I will only be posting to this blog maybe once a week for now, and eventually I will probably be moving towards a Herrick Kimballesque monthly posting. I have been very blessed by the letter writing and receiving during the December Project, and have decided that that is going to be my principle means of communication. Since so much writing and teaching is planned, you might consider getting on the snail mail list if you want to be sure to receive the materials as they are produced.

For now there are a few things I need to ask of you. For those supporters and students who have been around or awhile... we are looking to round up the printed text of all of the Isaiah commentaries I did a few years ago. I have changed computers several times since then, and all of the printed text or notes are not available to us. I am looking for someone (or several people) out there who either saved the copied the text to his/her computer, or who printed them out and maybe put them in a binder. If you happen to have all (or most) of the Isaiah series in print format, please contact me via the comments section and I'll arrange to get copies from you. When we went on hiatus on that commentary, we had finished 33 chapters (half the book).

I just do not plan on spending much time on the computer, and I hope to continue and increase the benefits we have received by reviving the old art of letter writing. Things are going well here. Santa Anna actually received two significant snows recently, and the winter has been particularly cold. So much for global warming, eh? The December Project

We will be off-grid and not going to town until January.

As most of you know, our family will be engaging in what we call "The December Project" like we did last year, only this year it starts tomorrow (Monday the 16th). During that time we will not be going to town, and we will be spending our time on the ranch, doing a lot of things as a family, and separating ourselves from "stuff" for awhile. The Project Cometh

11/09/09 - 5th Day - Afternoon. Howdy y'all. The December Project cometh quickly. This is our last week before the DP is underway. For those who do not know about the December Project, let me 'splain... No. Is too much. Let me sum up...

Last year, as an experiment and a test of our lifestyle and preparedness; and because we cannot stand be "in town" during the pagan world's "holy days", we decided not to go to town the whole month of December. The experiment was successful and showed us many of our weaknesses and things on which we needed to work. This year, our December Project is going to be longer and deeper. We will not be going to town (DV) from November 16th through the 1st of January (6 weeks and 3 days), and during that time we will not be using the computers, Internet, etc.

What does that mean to you? Well, it means that, for the most part, this blog will not be updated, and you will not be hearing from me or reading from me until next year... UNLESS... you are on our December Project snail mail list. In which case I will be sending out regular writings to you folks who have requested to stay in contact and receive snail mail. IF... you want to be on the December Project snail mail list, I will need you to snail mail me and ask to be put on the list. Welcome to Issue #58 of Q&A Friday for Friday the 6th of November, 2009. I want to thank you all for your great emails and questions. I want to remind everyone of the rules by which I will be playing: Not all questions will be answered, and not all those that are submitted can be fitted into one issue. I may combine similar questions from multiple people into one question. Those that did not make this issue (for length reasons) might be included in a future one. Questions might not be answered or included in the Q&A for the following reasons:

The scope may be too broad, or it may involve a topic on which I have taught at length... ex: “Can you explain the whole Creation?”. The question might need to be asked more specifically, or with fewer presuppositions that I would have to handle before actually getting to the question (I do reserve the right to rewrite questions to make them more clear and understandable or to make them more amenable to the format here). Dear Michael, I would like to buy a study bible. There are so many to chose from. I don’t want to be lead astray by liberal commentary. Could you tell me which one would be the most closely aligned with your teachings?

Thank you

I do not recommend using a Study Bible, for the reason you mentioned. I think adding notes or comments in the text (or even footnoted in the text) comes very close to adding to or taking away from the Word of God. Although I really appreciate the Geneva Bible notes, I do not use that Bible when studying for this reason. In my opinion there are a few things in life you should save up and spend some money on, and two of those things are - a good Bible and a good knife. Everyone should get a good Bible, and one that doesn't have a lot of "junk" added into or onto it. My Bible is the KJV 1611 Cambridge wide-margin Bible. It's just the Bible with a lot of room to write in it, and dozens of pages of note paper and blank papers to write on. It's got the Epistle dedicatory and such at the beginning, and some maps and stuff at the end. That's it. It isn't cheap, but it is a real tool and not a toy.

As for study, that is where diligence requires that we make use of good resources. Every serious student of scripture ought to save up, sacrifice if need be, and spend whatever is necessary to have those things that are absolutely needful - and in my opinion, those things are these:

1. A good Bible.

2. A good dictionary and concordance.

3. A good commentary/commentaries on the Chapter being studied.

4. A good and diligent teacher.

Get a good Bible Dictionary, a complete Concordance, and seek help from your teacher to find the best commentaries or books on the book of the Bible you are reading or studying. For example, I would recommend A.W. Pink's books on Hebrews and John. If I could have only one commentary, it would be John Gill's. Now, when you read the Bible, first - read the Chapter through without any assistance. Pray on it, and note any difficult passages or things you hadn't seen or noticed before. A good Pastor/Elder/Teacher will be available to you for questions if you have any. Then, in my opinion, it is a good idea to get the BEST book written on the subject. Again, a good Pastor/Elder/Teacher should already know what book you ought to get on any particular Bible chapter, or will be able to point you in the right direction. Say you are reading Hebrews and you get Pink's Exposition of Hebrews - then read it through with your Bible at hand. TEST EVERYTHING the writer says against the Word. If you cannot afford to get a book or books on the Chapter, then rely on your good commentary and your teacher. Write down specific questions and send or give them to your teacher. Expect (especially if you are supporting him as you should be - 1 Tim. 5:17) full and complete answers to your questions. If you are still confused or unsure, seek more counsel and read more on the subject. Don't expect to get it all figured out, and be willing to move on - since hopefully you will be studying this Chapter your whole life. My main point is that Bible study needs to be systematic and in depth. Prayer is primary.

Anyway, I think that this plan is better than getting a Study Bible.

Michael, I'm wondering if you would be willing to put your pen to writing about the responsibilities of a man in the position of Prophet, Priest, and King and the practical applications that they involve. If the Christian Virtuous Woman has so much on her plate, I can imagine that loving a wife as Christ loves the Church can be a very important task. Being a relatively newly wed I can imagine that I haven't begun to understand the responsibility that weighs on my shoulders and I would appreciate your teachings in this matter. Thank you.

Thank you for your question. There is certainly no way to give this topic the attention it desires in this forum, but I will give you a cursory answer and in it I hope you will learn how to find the larger answer. First, since this boils down to loving the wife as Christ loved the Church, it is necessary that we answer some questions...

If Christ loved the Church (and He did), how did that love manifest itself?; and how do we contrast this love with what is taught as "love" by the world today? Did Christ just hold hands with the Church and put up with her tantrums? Did He skip along the beach with her and tell her "I love you just the way you are?" Did He tell her that he was going to share authority with her 50/50 and seek her advice and counsel always? Did He tell her that all the important decisions were up to her and he'd just "go make the money?" Did He tell her He was perfectly happy with her in her sins and rebellions?

In fact, most of how men supposedly love their wives today is not love at all. It is submission to the Devil is what it is, and it is Roman in origin (Romance... anyone?).

Christ loved the Church in such a way that showed that her eternal address was more important to Him than her temporal "happiness" or comfort. He told her to obey Him in all things, without question, and without regard to consequences. He served her by encouraging her, teaching her, chastising her strongly, and demanding that she submit or that she leave. He refused (and refuses) to share her with the world, meaning that he over-rules and rejects her natural proclivities to carnal comfort, domination, self-preservation and esteem, vanity, and worldliness. He promised He would not leave her comfortless, in that He would comfort her IN affliction, IN persecution, IN trials, IN tribulations. He told her that IF she loved Him, she would obey His commandments; and He told her that if she did love Him and obey Him, that she would be hated by her family, friends, and the world. Christ's love of the Church is such that His rebukes and chastisements are in direct relation to her commitment and submission. If she submits and obeys, she will receive innumerable benefits, both here on earth, and eventually in heaven. If she rebels and refuses to obey, then national Israel was given to her as a threat and a promise of what may become of her. He wrote her letters with great promises and great threatenings, and He encouraged her to read and heed what He wrote to her. He served her best interests, even when that was contrary to what she wanted... including leaving her on earth to go and prepare a place for her. He is living water to her when she is athirst, and He is the Bread of Life to her when she is hungry.

In short...

When I see a loud-mouthed, obnoxious woman who calls herself a Christian, I see a husband who has not loved his wife enough. When I see a troublesome meddler, a gossip, or a busy-body, I see a husband who has not loved his wife as Christ loved the Church. When I see a woman who bedevils her husband, nags him, or makes his life less than a blessing, then I see a man who has not loved his wife enough or properly.

Christ loved His wife in such a way that it was necessary for Him to die in order to redeem her from her fallen state. He permitted Himself to be brutalized and crucified in order to propitiate her sins, her errors, and her rebellion. Such is the love that Christ had for the Church.

When the woman looks at her duties and obligations in the Bible, she sees that she is called to be a help-meet for her husband. She is called to serve him, and to assist him in his life and ministry. She is to be a blessing and a glory to Him. In other words, Her duty is to help her husband in his work OUTWARDS. A husband's duty is to help His wife in her work INWARDS.

... and that is the shorthand version. I hope it helps.

In Colonial America, Guy Fawkes Day (or Pope's Day) was an annual celebration and commemoration of being free from Papist domination and Jesuit subterfuge. The day was celebrated with large fires and Anti-Catholic pageants and plays, illustrating the centuries of tyranny and Jesuit plots that had brought about the death of tens of millions of Christians. The holiday was eventually banned by George Washington who was afraid of the pro-British emotions that might be stirred up by the celebration.

And to think that modern so-called "Christians" waste their time on pagan holidays like the Christ-Mass and Halloween.

Those who forget their history are destined to repeat it... or worse.
